Before booking Your Life In The UK test please read the following important information.

You must book your life in the UK test at an official test centre.

Important Information

Please note if any of the information you provide is incorrect, you will be rejected from the test centre and you will not be able to receive a refund, so please make sure all information to book your life in the uk test provided is  accurate.

Acceptable I.D

You can use one of the following as ID to book your Life In The UK test:

  • Passport (must be in date)
  • Approved Travel Document (must be in date)
  • EU identity card (must be in date)
  • Biometric Residence permit (must be in date)

The name you give and all the information you have provided on your test booking must be an exact match with the name on the ID you use to book the test. You must include any middle names on the booking form or your test will be rejected and you won’t get a refund.?

Please bring the exact ID you used to book the test, if you do not you will not be able to take your test or receieve a refund.
You can make special requests when you book your test, eg if you have a disability and need extra equipment or help accessing the centre.

What to bring to your Life In The UK test

You must bring the same ID that you used to book your Life In The UK test.

Taking your Life In The UK test

The Life In The UK Test is computer-based, consisting of 24 questions and takes up to 45 minutes to complete. The questions consist of the following topics:

  • British Principles, Traditions & Values
  • British Culture, History, Government & Law 

You will be tested on information from the Official Handbook for Life in the UK Test:

If you pass your Life In The UK test

You must get 75% or more in the test to pass.

If you pass your Life In The UK test, you will get 'Unique Reference Number (URN) via email’.

You must quote this number with your citizenship or settlement application to prove you passed.

If you fail your Life In The UK test

You must wait 7 days before taking the test again, but you can take the test as many times as you need to. You’ll need to book and pay again each time.
